The picturesque village of Aberdaron is approximately 1.5 miles away from Mynydd Mawr Camping site with its few shops which comprises of a Spar, newsagent and off-licence, bakery, gift shops, take-away two public houses, church and a sandy beach. Another popular beach close by is Whistling Sands.
The market town of Pwllheli (market held on Wednesday's) is 18 miles away. Abersoch another tourist hot spot popular for it's water sports and designer shops is nearby and Hells Mouth beach for surfing is not too far away. A visit to Snowdonia is also a must. From the campsite the adjoining headland links to the coastal path ideal for walks along the rugged coastline and sandy beaches.
There are several coves scattered around ideal for fishing. The campsite overlooks Bardsey island noted for its historical and religious significance as a place of pilgrimage over the centuries. It is said that three trips to Bardsey is considered equal to a pilgrimage to Rome . Boat trips can be arranged to the island (weather permitting).
